Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with a comprehensive nursing care of patients suffering from internal diseases. The course describes clinical medicine bases and nursing care of patients suffering from internal diseases. Having finished the course, the students will orientate themselves in the issues of nursing care of the diseased suffering from internal diseases. Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: The students can describe clinical symptoms, diagnostics and medicinal treatment and nursing care of specific internal diseases. The students orientate themselves in specific stages of the nursing process as to internal diseases. Professional skills: The students are able to take a nursing anamnesis for specific internal diseases, to establish the acute and potential nursing diagnoses, to set goals and resultant criteria, to plan nursing interventions, to provide nursing care and to assess it. General ability: The students can work by means of the nursing process with patients suffering from internal diseases: to take anamnesis, to establish diagnoses, goals, criteria, to plan interventions, to execute the nursing care plan and to assess it. Competence: The student shall acquire the ability to work by the method of the nursing process with patients suffering from internal diseases.
Syllabus
  • 1. Nursing care of patients with diseases of kidneys, urinary tract infections, urolithiasis, and renal carcinoma.
    2. Nursing care of patients with diseases of kidneys, acute kidney failure, chronic kidney failure, kidney transplantation.
    3. Nursing care of patients with metabolic and nutrition disorders (disorder of acid-base balance and its treatment, disorders of water electrolyte metabolism, metabolic diseases of bones, porphyria, and purine metabolism disorders).
    4. Nursing care of patients with metabolic and nutrition disorders (obesity, diabetes mellitus).
    5. Nursing care of patients with endocrinological diseases (thyroid gland and parathyroid glands diseases (hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism).
    6. Nursing care of patients with rheumatologic diseases (diffusion diseases of connective tissues, spondylarthoses, osteroarthrose, gout, infectious arthritis, movement system carcinoma).
    7. Nursing care of patients with immunologically conditioned diseases (immunodeficiency, autoimmune diseases -lupus erytromatodes, rheumatoid arthritis, and vasculitis affecting small and large vessels, allergies).
    8. Acute poisoning (fundamentals of therapy of acute states, overview of antidotes, intoxication with chemical substances, fungi, plants, snakes, industrial chemical products).
    9. Haematology (anaemia, leukaemia, Hodgkin's disease, haemophilia, disseminated intravascular coagulation).
    10. Some infectious diseases in practice (paravirus infections, malaria, infections caused by salmonellas, bacillary dysentery, tularaemia, botulism, alimentary intoxication, influenza etc.)
