- Course objectives
- The course contents constitute the core of general nurses' professional skills and it is included in the set of fundamental professional courses. The instruction is practical. It allows the students obtaining basic manual skills and confidence in safe and high-quality execution of professional interventions and procedures to clients / patients. An intervention performed in high quality respects individual needs of the client / patient, particularly his/her needs of comfort, respect, security and safety.
- Syllabus
- 1. Securing of the central vein, care of central venous catheter, central venous pressure taking.
2. Fundamentals of ECG assessment in acute care.
3. Securing of air passages in acute and intensive care, care for air passages.
4. Patient's preparation for anaesthesia, introduction, development, termination of anaesthesia, patient's monitoring during anaesthesia, nursing care.
5. General anaesthesia, local anaesthesia, ambulant anaesthesia.
6. Cardioversion, defibrillation, temporary, permanent cardiostimulation, ICD.
7. Particularities of nursing care in acute ward.
8. Care for epidural catheter, monitoring of complications, application of medicines.
9. Drainages, drainage types, nursing care.

Information on the extent and intensity of the course: Přednáška 4 HOD/SEM. - Teacher's information
- The contact instruction is implemented through the system of tutorials on selected topics. The combined part of the studies is implemented in the e-learning course environment at e-portal http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/. The students have study supports including correspondence tasks available for instruction there. The course is concluded by a credit in written or oral form; within it, the student will demonstrate knowledge of basic and recommended reading and be able to discuss the processed correspondence tasks. The student will have the opportunity to consult individually the topics studied, through individual or group tutorials or electronic mail.
Credit requirements: written test, cut-off score 80%.
