Course objectives
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit for the midwifery practitioner. It is part of a complex group of basic vocational courses for midwives. The aim of the course is to gain knowledge of the physiology and pathology of the female reproductive organs, management of the hormonal cycle of women, and of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: Anatomy of external and internal reproductive organs in women, menstrual cycle, examination methods in gynecology
Professional skills: Capabililty to assess pathology in the development of organs, in the menstrual cycle
General qualification: Knowledge of examination methods in gynecology, adequate use of technical terminology
Competency: Erudition in the field of gynecology
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
  • 1. Anatomy of external and internal genitalia, development of sexual organs and sexual differentiation, developmental malformations of female genitalia.
  • 2. Gynecological endocrinology, reproductive cycle of women, preventive examination in gynecology.
  • 3. Gynecological inflammation, endometriosis, pelvic pain, infertility, interferility.
  • 4. Gynecological surgery.
  • 5. Benign tumors of the genitals.
  • 6. Urogynaecology.
  • 7. Gynecological and oncological diseases in gynecology.
  • 8. Mammary gland diseases.
  • 9. Gynecology of child and adolescent age.
  • 10. Acute conditions in gynecology.
  • Training:
  • 1. Anatomy of external and internal genitalia, development of sexual organs and sexual differentiation, developmental malformations of female genitalia - training using models.
  • 2. Gynecological endocrinology, reproductive cycle of women, preventive examination in gynecology - records in the menstrual cycle, menstrual calendar, applications
  • 3. Care of women with gynecological inflammation, endometriosis, pelvic pain.
  • 4. Care of women before and after gynecological surgery.
  • 5. Care of women in urogynecology.
  • 6. Care of women with oncological gynacological diseases.
  • 7. Care of women with diseases of the mammary gland.
  • 8. Role of the midwife in child and adolescent gynecology.
  • 9. Care of women in severe gynecological conditions.
  • 10. Role of the midwife at the gynecological outpatient ward.
