Course objectives
It analyses the causes and factors that lead to the emergence of socially pathological phenomena and in some cases even prescribes preventive and corrective procedures. It therefore deals with the patterns of behaviour that society considers undesirable and seeks to eliminate.
Learning outcomes
For each social pathology, the student will indicate: - causes of occurrence (etiology), - define the key concepts related to the phenomenon, - characterize the significant processes related to the phenomenon, - analyse the consequences of the socially pathological behaviour in question, - propose primary prevention of the phenomenon for different age groups, - distinguish between the different levels and types of prevention of the phenomena in question, - consider the effectiveness of the proposed preventive action.

  • 1. Malfunctions of the family, typology of dysfunctional families. CAN syndrome and its prevention
  • 2. Substance and non-substance addictions. Psychopathologic addiction as a social problem. Prevention and treatment
  • 3. Bullying and cyberbullying; possibilities of prevention of risk behaviour associated with information technology. Workplace bullying
  • 4. Aggression and violence. Crime and vandalism. Extremism, racism and possibilities of prevention
  • 5. Involuntary and child prostitution, sexual deviance and aggression
  • 6. Eating disorders, causes of development. Possibilities of prevention and treatment
  • 7. Suicidal tendencies and self-harming
  • 8. Issues of groups of sectarian features
  • 9. Unemployment and homelessness in our society
  • 10. Strategy of prevention of socially pathological phenomena within the area of responsibility of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic

1. completion of correspondence assignments 2. Exam: on compulsory literature and lectures 3. Active participation in the seminar and completion of the assigned tasks is a prerequisite for the opportunity to take the exam. Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Absence (up to 25%) is allowed only for a serious reason; the instructor must be informed and will assess the situation.
