Course objectives
The course aims to provide students with comprehensive information on the pedagogical discipline of special education / gerontagogy. Students understand the historical development of care of disabled people in the context of current trends as part of approach to the disabled elderly. An integral part of the course is also the understanding of the functioning of families with disabled individuals and societal attitudes, including legislative anchoring. Students will become familiar with methods of special gerontagogy, gain an understanding of the specificity of individuals with disabilities in the senior age: sight, hearing, mental, physical, combined or with communication impairments. As part of group consultations and seminars, students use a faculty educational flat for disabled individuals to test daily activities, e.g. on a wheelchair using assistive devices.
