- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to develop communication skills in English (written and spoken) in the field of health communication, to introduce students to professional terminology and situations that may arise in the profession of general nurse. The course includes practice in basic language skills (primarily speaking, then listening, reading, and translating) with an emphasis on comprehension of professional text and the ability to communicate in situations specific to the health professions. On completion of the course, the student will be familiar with common medical terms, medical documentation, and be able to respond in a variety of situations relevant to the profession.

- 1. Introduction (motivation to study, level of English language)
2. Human body (body parts, systems, organs)
3. Health problems (common ailments and diseases, symptoms)
4. Ambulance (patient intake, personal details, medical and family history, common examinations)
5. Hospital (orientation, wards, facilities, observation)
6. Patient admission to hospital (rooming in, schedule, education)
7. Surgery (course, anaesthesia, pre- and post-operative care)
8. Emergency, injuries, first aid
9. Medical technology and imaging methods(vocabulary)
10. Multicultural approach (ethnic specificities in care, hospitalization)

Explanation - Assessment methods
- The course is completed by exam, which will take the form of a seminar presentation - a given medical topic prepared in the form of a PPT or a frontal/interactive oral presentation.
The condition for the award of exam is at least 80% attendance at the class. - Language of instruction
