Course objectives
Students will consolidate their general and vocational pedagogical, special pedagogical and psychological knowledge through observing educational and motivational activities and comparing them with educational constructs within the context of the variables that influence a physically disabled person’s socialization. Understand the biological basis of mutual relations and of social determination on the formation of human personality. In the discipline of social communications, students observe the possibilities of applying various communication strategies. The focus and assignments of the observation special education work experience is based on the content of the course Special education and is seen as an important part of shaping the graduate’s profile. Facilities for observation work experience are chosen in line with this objective, across relevant departments which deal with the issues of disabled people.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student characterizes the variables influencing the socialization of people with disabilities
- the student is able to describe educational and activation activities in the context of complex personality development
- the student gets acquainted with communication strategies in the context of social communication
Professional skills:
- the student records the course of educational and activation activities
- the student describes the specific manifestations resulting from the disability
- student analyzes the data and compares with theoretical knowledge
General competences:
- the student has knowledge of biological conditionality and social determination in the broader context of human development and formation
- the student is able to explain the importance of theoretical knowledge of pedagogy, special pedagogy, psychology and psychopathology for the practical activities of a special pedagogue

Assessment methods
Participation in the introductory seminar to work experience. Submission of a portfolio according to the assigned structure: characteristics of selected educational and motivational activities, description of the implementation of selected educational and motivational activities, characteristics of the student’s assistant participation, self-reflection, description of specific manifestations of the user during activity in the form of observation records sheet, description of the communication strategy applied, analysis of the collected data and comparison with theoretical bases.

Introductory tutorial for the purpose of input information (content and organization). The teacher has regular consultations, at which the student has the opportunity for an individual consultation meeting. Communication also takes place via e-mail.
