Course objectives
LECTURE The course acquaints students with basic concepts and principles of the theory of social policy, explains the characteristics of subjects and objects of social policy, overview of the tools used by social policy to meet their goals. Students will learn the basic concepts of social policy, its objectives, principles and functions. They navigate in the history of processes that have shaped social policy and the welfare state in its present form. They will acquire the basic tools of contemporary social policy in the Czech Republic and the European Union. In the lectures students will be informed about the current status of all the constituent parts of social policy, the family, housing, health policy, employment and related government measures to combat unemployment. SEMINAR The seminar will focus on linking theoretical knowledge from lectures and the current situation of social policy in the CR and the EU. Students will be able to enrich their own information and discuss topics of current social policy.In the seminar students will present the latest updates on social and political issues, their opinions on political policies and to suggest solutions to illustrative social problems.

    2nd Operators, functions, principles and instruments of social policy.
    3rd Development of social policy.
    4th The causes of differences and models of social policy.
    5th Social support as a basis for social policy.
    6th The concept of the welfare state.
    7th The crisis and the return of the welfare state.
    8th Origin and types of social events.
    9th Status of social policy and its understanding in the European Community.
    10th Unemployment as a social event.
    SEMINAR
    1st The influence of social policies on everyday life.
    2nd The function of social policy.
    3rd Historical influences on the formation of social policy.
    4th The function of the welfare state.
    5th Implementation of social security.
    6th Examples of measures in family policy.
    7th Examples of measures in housing policy.
    8th Examples of measures in health policy.
    9th Examples of measures in employment policy.
    10th Poverty and social exclusion, how it affects society.
    11th Social exclusion and social inequality, discrimination.
    12th Social Policy of the European Union.

The test - preparation of lectures and required reading
Credit for full-time - provided the credit, qualified to participace in discussions at seminars, processed essay, attendance
Credit for the combined form - to meet individual tasks
Students develop in written form the questions from course content which are set by the teacher. The written task is to be sent to the teacher for review by the 9th week of the semester. t,
Submitted tasks are checked by the teacher who notify students of any shortcomings or suggestions for revisions in individual or group consultations . Students can use the consultation time (personal or electronic) to discuss problems that come up while working on the written work. The student receives credit upon completion of the tasks .
