Course objectives
The course comprises detailed introduction of students not only with periodization of growing old and old age as a (final) part of human life but also cognition of position of elderly generation in population and care for old (family, health care, social services). The cognition of demographic, biological, psychological and social, andragogical/ geronthological, health and other aspects of growing old as well as needs of seniors is necessary for understanding of this development. The course is intended for students of study programme N6731 only.

    2. Gerontology, theory of ageing - subject, targets, forms, methods and instruments
    3. Geronthological research and diagnostics
    4. Demographical aspects of ageing
    5. Biological aspects of ageing
    6. Psychological aspects of ageing
    7. Social aspects of ageing
    8. Andragogical and geronthological aspects of ageing
    9. Health aspects of ageing - the most frequent disablement and diseases
    10. Needs of seniors, their fulfilment
    11. Care of old person; family and home care; social and health services, geriatric nursing
    12. Care of gravelly (long-term) ill people; dying and death in current society
