Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with fundamental principles in the field of methodology of science, focusing on mastery of essential knowledge and skills needed for the work with specialized texts. Students will become familiar with the topics focused on the nature of science, its structure and basic concepts and methods which are used in the field of social sciences. This overview will be complemented by a practical part in which students will be practically working with specialized texts and earn the main principles of study and creation of technical texts. The main objective of the course is to develop students' knowledge and skills in the field of work with specialised texts. After successfully finishing the course, students will be able to present the basic concepts and methods in the field of social sciences, and they will be able to put this knowledge to practical application when working with scientific literature, which is based on the scope and content of study. Based on assigned practical examples (topical bibliography, annotation), they will be able to apply the acquired knowledge on practical examples. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students can define basics of social science methodologies. They are well versed in working with specialized texts. They can describe the use of each method in context of the study of a professional text. Professional Skills: Using the expertise in methodology of science, students can asses the characters of literature and the main principles of the production of professional work based on practical examples. They can create professional texts keeping in line with all necessary formal features and according to current standards. General Qualification: Students can independently decide which functions and methods to use to produce a professional text.

  • 1. Introduction, setting objectives and presenting content of the course, familiarization with the literature and sources, defining basic concepts and contexts

    4. The main principles of the construction of a vocational text
    5. Methods and techniques of working with vocational texts
    6. The possibilities of the division of a vocational text and its main parts
