Course objectives
Elementary outline of legislative and political aspects of minority issue in the context of history and current state of law protection of minorities. The lectures are focused on presentation of the most important laws and rules valid in the Czech republic and internationally binding agreements and law norms (including EU norms), they will characterize briefly the violation of minority laws (racism, holocaust, genocide, xenophobia, discrimination of women, children, homosexuals, handicapped etc.) as well as causes and consequences of migration, laws of asylum seekers etc. The practical examples of these problems will be mentioned in seminars, introducing as well characteristics of migration in the Czech republic and forming of multicultural society. The focus will be put on possibility of discussion and open current questions and possibilities of their solution.

Teacher's information
Two written papers 1) review of a new book, important article or web page which relates to issue of minorities (3 pages) with the aim to verify the ability of independent searching and processing of information including the analysis 2) essay or scientific article aimed at concrete topic from the lecture content, especially regarding current issue of protection of minorities and other minorities in the Czech republic (5 pages) with the aim to verify the ability of generalisation of a concrete issue and processing of factographical and methodological correctly analytic or systematic-analytic scientific article. The exam includes also written test aimed at verification of theoretical and practical knowledge.
