Course objectives
The course aims to provide students with insight into the problems of the family, the family development cycle, forming the relationships within the family, focusing on relationships and lines of development of the individual in old age. This course is based on the characteristics of the family especially contemporary Czech society, it defines its functions with a special focus on the elderly in families. Attention will be paid to the layout and atmosphere of families senior. Details will be discussed family environment as an essential factor in the education of seniors.
Syllabus
  • 1. Senior and family, family environment. The concept of family, family function - fulfilling family functions in relation to individuals in the senior age - the issue of emotional security functions, home security and so on. Current Issues families with a focus on seniors. Current trends in the family, postponing parenthood, single parent families - the impact of these trends on life in old age.
    2. The family and its development stages from the period of retirement until death. Family life during retirement. Intergenerational cohabitation. Preparing individuals and families at this developmental stage.
    3. The role of the individual in old age in the context of his family life. (Problems, conflicts, divorce in old age). Senior as a grandparent. Specific tasks care grandparent, grandparent foster care.
    4. Family and social support.
    5. Families with elderly abuse syndrome. Relatives and human rights.
    6. Family as his educational environment. Employment x to employ individuals during old age

Credit: seminar test (successful completion - 75%) of the intended primary literature.
Students worked in the subject cases of two families on a chosen topic:
Family situation in the death of one parent in old age; Family situation, relationship breakdown in the child, the role of grandparents in this situation, family and caring for an aging family member - demands on family life, family and intergenerational cohabitation, kinship foster care - such as foster grandparent, family violence against seniors and so on.
Case report can be processed and a senior resident outside the family (retirement home, senior staying at the hospice etc.). Range kasuistiky 5 pages.
