Course objectives
The course is focused on principal topics of general psychology. The taught topics are conceived in order to provide the students with orientation in principal theoretical concepts of psychology. Therefore, the course becomes the presumption of interconnection between other subjects in the frame of preparation for profession in PA. The aim of the course is to introduce the principal knowledge of general psychology, psychology of personality and development psychology to students. It comprises cognition of rules and peculiarities of personality in the frame of development, understanding the development of man in whole life curve both from point of view of cognition and emotional and motivational processes. The teaching is based on connection of theoretical findings with active own experience. It presupposes not only summarization of knowledge but also thought and connection of theoretical knowledge to daily life and searching for the meaning of psychology for man. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Student acquires knowledge of the basics of General Psychology, personality psychology and developmental psychology. They always learn to connect expertise with their current experience and, where appropriate, to apply it in practice. They are motivated to study specialized literature. Professional Skills: Students are led to connecting knowledge and skills so as to be able to apply them in practice. They learn to use feedback control, practising their practical skills. Methods supporting self-reflection form an important component of the course. General Qualification: Students can apply the acquired knowledge and skills not only in the follow-up courses and overall education system, but mainly in contact with the client and in their work teams. They are led to critical and creative approach and to common discussion on the issues. Self-knowledge leads to shortening the gap between the strengths and weaknesses of the student..

  • 1. Subject of psychology, psychics, non-conscious, conscious. Determination of psychics
    2. Classification of psychological sciences. Method of psychology. Principal directions of current psychology.
    3. Cognitional processes. Perception. Imagination.
    4. Thinking - characteristics, types, forms. Development of creativity.
    5. Attention. Learning and memory.
    6. Emotion. Emotional intelligence.
    7. Psychology of personality. Structure of personality. Skills and their development. Motivational dispositions of personality - dynamics of personality.
    8. Temperament. Character.
    9. Structure of ego. Integrity of personality. Personality disorders.
    10. Development of individual, developmental theories and models
    11. Critical periods in the course of life, personality formation.
    SEMINAR
    The seminars are based on lectures and extend the content of the discussed subject matter in an interactive way. In the seminar the students actively participate in joint activities. The aim of the seminars is to link theory and practice, based on experience aimed activities, it deepens the topics discussed, achieving critical evaluation and development of skills.

Requirements for students
Attendance at lectures is recommended, seminars are compulsory.
Seminar work (at least 5 pages) according to the selected topic approved by the teacher. A minimum success rate is 75 percent. Exam: Written test.
