At the end of the course students should know the institutes of copyright law as a component of intellectual property rights; be able to explain the theory, content and subject, the effects of legal acts in this field, especially the license agreement, and the consequences of a breach copyright act. Students should know the rules of media such as print, broadcast and television and the internet, and their effects on society and the legal relations in connection with the copyright act. At the end of the course the student should be able to explain and interpret media and copyright institutes to apply theoretical information, create copyright documents, the student is able to contractual relationships to protect their rights and obligations.

The course is completed with written exam. The written exam consists of 20 multiple choice test questions, 60 points max, 45 points min is required to pass the exam.

  • 1. The concept of copyright as an independent field of private law
    2. The concept of copyright works and the kinds of works. The concept of the author. Statutory presumption of authorship
    3. Contents copyright. Copyright personality and property. Prerequisites copyright relations. Types copyright agreements
    4. Free access to the works and gratuitous legal license
    5. Rights of Performers, concept artist, artistic performance
    6. Copyright Infringement consequences administrative punishment for violations under the Copyright Act
    7. Special arrangements uncreative rights under the Copyright Act (law publishers, television and radio broadcasting)
    8. Collective management of rights, collective management organizations
    9. Czech Television, Czech Television Act, Czech Radio Act on Czech Radio. The law on television and radio broadcasting.
    10. The concept of the information society, internet, video-on-demand 11. Periodical and non-periodical publications, press laws
