Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with insight into the family, its development, the formation of relationships within the family, etc. The course is based on the basic characteristics of the family in history and contemporary Czech society, defines its functions, especially focusing on the educational function. Attention will be paid to the organization and atmosphere of the family, general educational functions and functions that make education difficult. Attention will be focused on the effect of adequate educational resources, factors that affect the functioning of the family, etc.

  • 1. Family and its functions. Typology of families. Signs of the contemporary Czech family. Basic concepts
  • 2. Family theory. Partnership. Alternatives to coexistence
  • 3. Development of partnership, marriage in terms of time
  • 4. Family and crisis. Marriage and internal and external marital situations. Parenting, parental attitudes and roles in the family
  • 5. Family functionality, parenting disorders, family disorders
  • 6. Education in the family, family and its functionality. Education, educational style, way of education
  • 7. Education in the context of the development of society. Family and leisure
  • 8. Family and divorce. Forms of marriage dissolution. Child at the time of divorce. Raising a child after divorce. Family and child breakup. Disputes over children. Discarded parent syndrome. Finding a partner after divorce, second partnership, marriage and their breakups. Grandparents and divorce
  • 9. Family with one parent, families with step-parent and step-siblings. Parenting and stepfather
  • 10. Surrogate family education (care), surrogate parenting. Substitute family care system. Parenting and surrogate family. Surrogate care and grandparents. Surrogate parenting - a question of motivation. The arrival of a child in the family
  • 11. Child, childhood and its development. Parents and children - relationship. Stages of child cognition - historical point of view. Child care - a non-governmental organization
