Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to provide students with a fundamental orientation in the field of General Psychology and Personality Psychology. The subject also get students acquainted with fundamental terms used for characteristics of the individual mental processes, states and qualities of a man. Students at the same time get to understand the personality psychology basics, which summarizes and intergates the psychological pieces of knowledge about forming a man´s mental life. Within this subject, there is also attention paid to other relevant theories of personality, to the determinants of a personality development and to the history of the field´s (General/Perosnality Psychology) development. The aim of this course is also to build up a theoretical as well practical basis for furthuer studies of applied disciplines in the field of Psychology and Pedagogy.

  • 1. Psychology as an independent discipline, the subject and the objective, the system of psychological disciplines, status of psychology within the framework of science
  • 2. Basic concepts of general psychology. The brain as the organ basis of the human psyche
  • 3. Basic theoretical schools in psychology
  • 4. Methods of psychological research and practice, possibilities and principles of their use
  • 5. Cognitive system of personality: sensory processes, perception, attention
  • 6. Cognitive system of personality: memory, imagination, fantasy
  • 7. Cognitive system of personality: thinking, intelligence
  • 8. Emotions and their importance in human life
  • 9. Psychology of personality, the concept of the "I", endogenous and exogenous theory of personality
  • 10. Personality structure. Overview of the main constitutional and psychological personality typologies
  • 11. Activation-motivational personality characteristics
  • 12. Self-regulating properties of personality

According to the assignment, students will complete at least 2 correspondence tasks from the study support. COMBINED TEST FORM: The student must pass a 70% short orientation test, then proceed to the oral exam.
