Course objectives
The course forms key competences of conceptual scientific expression of the student in compliance with the chosen methodology. Its essence is in methodological guidance creating a practical, application or research parts of the thesis. The text of the final thesis will be consulted gradually.
Students implement practical part of the thesis according to the agreed schedule. They elaborate the theoretical anchorage of the research, prepare the necessary for the implementation of research according to the selected method (e.g. a questionnaire, interview outline, etc.). They search out their selected group of respondents (if it is relevant to the topic of the thesis), they carry out their research survey which they subsequently process in accordance with applicable methodologies and ethical standards.
They prepare evaluation of obtained data according to the methodological principles of scientific data processing. The thesis conclusion will include the most important scientific findings, description of the way in which the initial set of objectives was fulfilled and the significance of the thesis for practice.
Learning outcomes
The graduate will be able to
- formulate relevant research problem and research question (depending on the nature of the thesis);
- demonstrate knowledge of techniques and methodologies, make informed distinctions of possibilities and limitations of techniques of quantitative and qualitative analysis in relation to the thesis topic itself.
- implement and interpret the outputs of the practical part of the thesis;
- design and implement a scientific text in accordance with the theoretical, methodological and formal requirements;
- formulate a practical contribution of the thesis and elaborate its conclusion;
- competently respond to the observations and comments of the supervisor.
