- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to familiarize students with basic information about various types of disabilities, the system of counseling, educational and social services in the Czech Republic, including a basic overview of compensatory aids.
- Syllabus
- 1. Family and individuals with disabilities. Society's attitudes, prejudices, stereotypes. Specificity of development in individual stages of life. 2. Individual with visual impairment. Educational, advisory and social services. Leisure time. Compensatory aids. 3. Individual with hearing impairment. Educational, advisory and social services. Leisure time. Compensatory aids. 4. Individual with physical disability. Educational, advisory and social services. Leisure time. Compensatory aids. 5. Individual with mental disability. Educational, advisory and social services. - The course will conclude with an exam verifying knowledge of the topics covered and the completion of the assigned correspondence assignment.

- During the semester, students can use a total of 10 hours of face-to-face lectures, which include explanations of difficult parts of the curriculum. During continuous study, the student uses the study support, from which he/she processes selected correspondence tasks that he/she will discuss during individual and group consultations (study support available here: https://elearning.slu.cz/course/view.php?id=944). For the credit, the student demonstrates knowledge of the mandatory literature, study support and contact teaching lectures. The student can continuously consult individually studied subject topics via e-mail, individual or group consultations. Consultation days and hours are determined by the teacher at the beginning of the semester, but according to the needs of the students, he/she is also available outside the specified consultations after prior arrangement.
