Course objectives
The course focuses on the understanding of the human being as a biopsychosocial unit, focusing on the perception of the human being in the context of the social and natural environment, while not neglecting the issue of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. The student acquires basic knowledge of lay first aid and is prepared to apply it practically. The student will understand the principles of a healthy lifestyle and be able to promote them in a broad social context in accordance with the long-term programme for improving the health of the population of the Czech Republic - Health 21. An integral part of this is to clarify the position of the social worker in the health care system and to understand the links between social and health issues. Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: define, calculate and appropriately interpret basic indicators of population health; use them to assess the health situation; name, select and calculate appropriate indicators of morbidity; interpret the results obtained appropriately; design and plan a population study; formulate the conclusions of the investigation; assess health risks; Based on examples of identifying and solving health problems, they will master the basics of probabilistic and systemic thinking in health care, methods of critical evaluation of the results of population studies and follow-up organizational measures.

Kontaktní výuka je vedena systémem konzultací na vybraná témata. Kombinovaná část studia je realizována v prostředí e-learningového kurzu na e-portále http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/. Pro výuku jsou zde studentům k dispozici studijní opory zahrnující korespondenční úkoly. Předmět je ukončen zápočtem, který proběhne písemnou formou, v rámci něj student prokáže znalosti základní i vybrané doporučené literatury a dokáže diskutovat o zpracovaných korespondenčních úkolech. Student bude moci průběžně konzultovat individuálně studovaná témata předmětu prostřednictvím individuálních či skupinových konzultací nebo elektronické pošty. Podmínkou pro udělení zápočtu je úspěšné vyplnění zápočtového testu, úspěšnost minimálně 80 %. Samostatná příprava z doporučené studijní literatury bude průběžné kontrolována při jednotlivých konzultacích.
