Course objectives (in Czech)
The goal of the course is to explain basic features of Management in Eastern European countries. It covers topics as the role of management, the jobs of management, the challenge to management. What is a business, what is our business, what should be our business, the objectives of a business, today's decisions for tomorrow's results, the principles of production. Typical examples, management by objectives and self-control, managers must manage, the spirit of an organisation, developing managers etc. The course considers specific management conditions of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary during transition into a market economy in the light of recent changes in European Union.

    Topics covered:
    1. The Nature of Management
    The role of the management, the jobs of management, the challenge to management.
    2. Managing a Business
    What is a business, what is our business, what should be our business, the objectives of a business, today's decisions for tomorrow's results, the principles of production.
    3. Managing Managers
    Typical examples, management by objectives and self-control, managers must manage, the spirit of an organisation, developing managers.
    4. Structure of Management
    What kind of structure, building the structure, the small, the large, the growing business.
    5. Management in V-4 Countries
    Where do the differences come from, general problems, mobility, leadership, management realism, discretion versus systems management and status, professionalism, strategy, pressure and change.
