The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The content and interpretation of the course is based on the approach that dominates the teaching of accounting in the world. It emphasizes the explanatory power of accounting for the needs of managers. The aim is to analyse and to predict real economic processes in the economic entities and to deal with decision-making tasks which are based on managing economic activities of economic entities on the basis of accounting and other economic data. The course is divided into three segments including financial and managerial accounting and taxation.
Syllabus
  • Accounting segment
    1. Legislative regulation of financial and managerial accounting of the Czech Republic. Basic differences between financial accounting in the Czech Republic, continental accounting, accounting system IFRS.
    2. Accounting according to IFRS methodology and Czech legislation and implications for determination the income tax.
    3. Users of financial statements and their information needs. Basic components of the financial statements, methods of valuation of assets and liabilities and the differences between Czech Accounting Standards and IFRS. The influence of both methodologies on the results of the financial analysis.
    4. Calculation of cash- flow and its use for management the financial situation of the company.
    5. Basic types of companies (manufacturing and businesses) and different approaches to accounting. Monitoring and evaluation of contracts in custom manufacturing.
    Management segment
    6. The requirements of management information system (MIS) for the organization and outputs of the economic information system.
    7. Decision-making tasks without deposit funds. Decision-making role with investment funds. Optimization tasks.
    8. Cost controlling and its use in decision management system.
    9. Methods of comparison companies using accounting information - benchmarking.

    Taxation segment
    10. Taxation and investment decisions of firms.
    11. Value added tax and its impact on the financial situation of the company.
    12. Tax burden and the choice of the legal form of business.
    13. The tax relief policy and legal and illegal tax evasion.
    14. Current and deferred income tax.
