Course objectives
The course provides a basic and advanced orientation in the information and communication technologies field (ICT). In particular, it will cover the link between hardware, software and their implementation and use towards the business support.
Syllabus
  • 1. The evolution of analog and digital technologies. Babbage mechanical computer. Turing machine. Von Neumann computer architecture. Harvard architecture.
    2. Computer architecture. Actual insights into computer markets. CISC and RISC architectures.
    3. Motherboard. Processor. Harddisk. Internal and external memory. RAM memory. Graphic and network adapters. Multimedia adapters. The communication scheme of devices. Wire and wireless technologies.
    4. Processors. The evolution of a processor. The technologies of processors. The CPU. The influence of processor on a workstation and server performance.
    5. Harddisk. The harddisks technologies IDE, USB, IEEE1394, SATA, SATA II, SCSI, SSD. The structure and scheme of harddisk. Disk arrays SAN and NAS. Advanced operations.
    6. Graphic adapters. The distribution of graphics cards according to the used bus. The GPU. The core parameters. I/O interface of a graphic adapter. The description of graphic interfaces DirectX and OpenGL. Monitors. projectors.
    7. I/O devices. Printers. Scanners. Sound cards. Modems. Keyboards. Mouse. Multimedia devices.
    8. Mobile communication devices. Wireless technologies. Technologies for mobile communication devices. The use of mobile communication devices in the business management.
    9. Security. Business security politics. Autentization. Authorization. Hardware and software solutions. Coding and cryptology. Computer viruses, principals and antivirus software.
    10. Intelligent company. Hardware and software technologies for intelligent company. Integrated hardware and software solutions for optimal business running.
