Course objectives
The goal of these lectures is to acquaint the students with basic concepts and techniques of insurance mathematics and to demonstrate their practical use using simple examples.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic principles of actuarial calculations.
    Definition of basic concepts, the principle of equivalence, model- and nonmodel-based approach to the calculation of premiums.
    2. Life insurance - the construction of mortality tables
    3. Life insurance - switching numbers and their use
    4. Life Insurance - insurance coverage depending on the survival of the insured
    5. Life Insurance - insurance coverage depending on the death of the insured
    6. Life insurance - the current premium
    7. Life Insurance - insurance reserves
    8. Life Insurance - stochastic modeling
    9. Life insurance - the premium modeling in VBA
    10. Life insurance - insuring more than one life
    11. Pension insurance
    12. Non-life insurance - calculation of premiums
    13. Non-life insurance - insurance reserves
    14. Non-life insurance - mathematical modeling
