INTRODUCTION & REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS

Active participation in the lessons: students have to write and upload their tasks in the forum, which is a part of every "topic" below. I highly recommend that you complete your tasks on a weekly basis to avoid falling behind. You will get your credits after uploading all required tasks.

Follow my instructions in every week's topic below and upload your tasks no later than by the given deadline. Get your copy (available online as well) of the recommended book "Oxford Handbook of Commercial Correspondence", follow the tasks and examples in particular units, write your letters, and upload them to the forum below each week's topic.

What is expected to be done to pass this course:

- There will be graded tasks that have to be uploaded on time - given deadline - or a worse grade is given by submission.

- Non-graded tasks have to be uploaded by the 17th of December, or an F is given.

- Created a dictionary based on the chapters in the book, with words dedicated to the correspondence

How to create the dictionary:

- By the 17th of December, each student will upload their own dictionary (pdf) with words collected from the recommended book

- As you go through each chapter, notice words or phrases written in CAPITAL LETTERS, and terminology that seem to be important when writing a business letter etc., and include them in your dictionary.

- You can get inspired by the attached documents each week.

- format: English word / Czech translation or equivalent / English definition (Example: Invoice - faktura - is a commercial document issued by a seller to a buyer)

This course is focused on the practical mastery of skills in foreign language correspondence. The goal is to learn to write English letters that cover the basics of personnel and economic issues. Emphasis is placed on diligence, correct form, linguistic acceptability, and substantive correctness.
