Introduction to the course

Managing a company is a complex activity, and effective managers face many challenges from within and outside their organizations. Management is an unpredictable process. Making the right decision is often difficult, and even successful managers often make mistakes. Managers try to find ways to improve their companies´ performance. Therefore, the subject of management is focused on gaining basic knowledge of management issues, including current trends for a broader application of managerial principles.

The content focus of the course is based on the needs of organizations to be organized, managed and achieve the desired goals. Therefore, the course combines the historical development and stages of management with an emphasis on organizational structure, behaviour, analysis of the environment and focus on individuals, groups and teams in the organization. The international dimension and cultural differences are also considered.

Evaluation and requirements for successful completion of the course

Requirements 

  • Seminar paper – Upload file to Information System (Homework Vaults)
  • Defense of the seminar paper – According to the schedule. 
  • Tasks and Case studies – Upload file to Information System (Homework Vaults), always submit by the end of the week
  • Final exam (enrolling in IS)
  • The total grade consists of the sum of all points from individual parts - the seminar paper and its defense, the partial tasks and case studies in seminars and the final exam.To successfully complete the course, you need to obtain at least 60 points (grade E).
