Course objectives
During their studies, students carry out work experience in facilities such as day service centres, daily and weekly care centre (facilities of charitable services, Silesian Diaconate, Salvation Army, etc.) where they will have the opportunity to become familiar with the planning, provision and structure of educational activities provided, they will be planning and implementing their educational activities aimed at the target audience based on the facility type under the leadership of their work experience facility supervisor.
Due to the fact that the elderly may spend a considerable part of their day and week in the facilities, it is necessary for the students to learn to apply knowledge from the discipline of geriatrics and psychology of old age, in regard to respecting the health status of the clients in their performance of educational activities and practices.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: Students will learn to work with the elderly in the facilities, based on shadowing, they will learn the basics of the activities working with the target group with a focus on educational activities.
Professional skills: Students can apply theoretical knowledge in practice, design and, under the supervision of the facility staff, implement educational activities for the elderly.
General qualification: Students can independently assess effectiveness of educational activities for the elderly and use their theoretical knowledge in practice.
