- The aim of the course is to master formative word formation and the issue of the meaning of words depending on their form and function in the text.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- navigate the field of formative word formation;
- identify and describe the meaning of words depending on their form and function in the text;
- work with the lexicon in terms of language varieties; - Syllabus
- 1. Contextual conception of lexical semantics. 2. Grammar and lexicon. 3. Word semantics and contextual relations. 4. Syntagmatic delimitations of lexical units. 5. Paradigmatic delimitations of lexical units. 6. The word and its surroundings. 7. Collocation. Archaisms, registers. 8. Polysemy 9. Lexical configuration: hierarchy, polarity and synonymy 10. General meaning and technical terminology 11. Lexical-semantic characteristics of professional language 12. Criteria for choosing vocabulary for working with professional language 13. Testing of acquired knowledge
