Course objectives
The course concentrates on the 20th century history. During the seminars students read and talk about authentic texts of the period.
Learning outcomes
The student is familiar with the Italian history of the 20th century.

  • 1. Unification of Italy 2. Period of Giolitti's governments 3. Conquest of Libya 4. World War 1 and the following period 5. Fascism 6. The Italian Empire and war crimes in Libya and Ethiopia 7. The Second World War and the resistance against fascism 8. Constitution of the Italian Republic 9. Economic development of the 1950s and 1960s. 10. Movements of 1968 and 1977 11. Strategies of intimidation and tension 12. Terrorism and illegal secret organizations 13. The end of the 1st Republic and the rise of Berlusconi
