Course objectives
The Cultural Management seminar will provide students with a basic insight into the problems of cultural practice in all artistic branches. Students will gain an overview of   the complex of skills and knowledge required for the role of culture manager with  significant use of experience from specific organizing activities of teachers in all areas of art. The aim of the seminar is to use the acquired knowledge when working on your own fictitious art project, which at the end of the seminar will present and defend its possible realization.

  • 1. What is culture? Definition of culture. Narrower and broader understanding of the concept of culture. Active and passive cultural activities. Amateur and professional art. 2. Cultural policy, main aims and tools of cultural policy. Cultural policy at the level: municipality, city, state. Cultural institutions. 3. Cultural policy of the European Union. Cultural policy in the world. UNESCO and World Heritage Site. Great personalities of cultural politics. 4. Cultural life of the city. Cultural concept. Sociological survey of cultural needs. Commercial and non-commercial art and public benefit. Cultural industry. 5. Culture management. Michael Kaiser – guru of cultural management and planning strategy. 6. Dramaturgy, role of dramaturge and creative producer in art. 7. Animation of culture and participatory methods in art. 8. Fundraising in culture. Financing of culture. Budgets of cultural festivals and cultural events. SWOT analysis. 9. Promotion of culture. Marketing in culture. Marketing mix. 10. Communication in team. Work with the media and the public. 11.
