Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Basic knowledge of lexicological disciplines. Subject lexicology, lexicology position in the science system, auxiliary and temporary discipline. Basic concepts - word lexeme. Meaning of lexical units. Vocabulary - its structure, the layers of vocabulary system in the vocabulary, changes in vocabulary. Terminology. Historical approach to vocabulary, etymology. Relations lexical units - paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations. Proper names, onomastics basics. Multi-word lexical units - multi-word names, phrases and idioms. Lexicography, the principles of compiling dictionaries, types of dictionaries. Requirements on student Active participation in the seminar (two absences are permitted) - Lexicographical practice: working with the lexicographic database Exam: - Written part includes 20 questions with variations abc (can be replaced orally in full) - Oral part: analysis of the text
