- Course objectives
- The theory of nonlinear dynamics or chaos has been developed explosively in recent years and has wide application in all areas of physics and computer science. The aim of the course is to present basic knowledge of deterministic chaos and dynamical systems in general. An introduction to mathematical concepts and techniques will be given and demonstrated in Mathematica - Wolfram Research software system.

- 1. Dynamical systems - history and motivation, Wolfram Mathematica software
2. Series of numbers, logistic map, bifurcation
3. Fractals and fractal dimension
4. Differential equations, phase space, numerical solution, NDSolve function
5. Hamiltonian formalism, motion in effective potential
6. Oscillators, Harmonic analysis
7. Poincare surface of section, Recurrence plot, Lyapunov exponent
8. Two and three body problem
9. Solar system stability
10. Analysis of time series
