Course objectives
Lectures during the summer semester focuses on the literature of the Humanism and Baroque.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to describe the chronological order of Bohemian humanism and baroque literature;
they will know genre system of these epochs;
they will able to to characterize the canonical literary works written during the humanism and baroque epochs;
they will able to characterise both these literary eras, styles or poetic traditions and the representative literary works.

  • Bohemian literature at the end of the 15th century and in the 16th century.
  • Bohemian literature in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Lectures (PowerPoint presentation), class discussion, teamwork, close reading, essay.
Assessment methods
Presentation of paper (homework). The final test (it consists of 12 questions, 8 correct answers is needed to pass).
