Course objectives
The propaedeutic lecture series provides a basic overview of the issue of a work of art, its identification, interpretation and presentation in the context of the history of art and culture. The lectures are designed to allow students of history to think of a work of art as a period visual source and to acquaint them with the basic methods of working with this type of historical source. The student will learn to recognize the key features of a work of art, its changes in space and time, get acquainted with the possibilities of its knowledge and interpretation, but also with the meaning and typology of artistic production in the field of visual culture.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- summarize the typology of artistic production in the field of visual culture;
- describe the key features of a work of art, its transformation in space and time;
- interpret a work of art as a historical source.
