- Course objectives
- One semester long set of lectures aims to point out the key problems of the European Palaeolithic research and to summarize the most important information concerning the human occupation of Europe in between circa 1 million and 7 000 years BP. The main attention is paid to the chronological and techno-cultural classification of the European Palaeolithic and Mesolithic from Iberian Peninsula to Crimea. The course consists of lectures and exercises, which are based on students essays.

4 / Early Paleolithic in Africa and Asia. Palaeolithic Africa, Asia and Europe. 5 / Middle Paleolithic Neanderthals and the problems in Europe and the Near East.
6 / Problems of transition to the Upper Palaeolithic and the question of the formation of anatomically modern humans (AMH).
7 / Upper Palaeolithic in Europe (Aurignacian, Gravettian, the last glacial maximum (LGM), Solutrean, magdelénien, Paleolithic art).
8 / Europe in the late Paleolithic and Mesolithic.
