Course objectives
The course concentrates on the development of the Gothic novel in the 19th and 20th century. The most important authors and novels are presented and analyzed through literary criticism as well as social and historical context.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- identify the main features of the Gothic novel,
- apply literary criticism on texts,
- identify social and historical influences,
- write a literary essay on the chosen topic.
