Course objectives (in Czech)
The goal of this course is to give students information about the specifics of translation for the European Union. After completing the course, the students will use translation tools which have been developed for and by the European Union, they will be able to locate documents with specific vocabulary, use them to create glossaries and subsequently translate the assigned documents with specialized topics.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • The presented translation course includes the following topics: European Union and National Institutions and Authorities. Given the current needs, the focus of the course is predominantly set on European Union. In this course students will work with official EU websites devoted to translation and use translation tools which have been developed for EU needs. They will locate documents that have been translated and are available on the Internet, they will identify key terminology in such documents and subsequently use it for assigned translations. They will also translate documents produced by Czech National Institutions.
