Course objectives
The Perl programming language is very popular in the computational linguistic community thanks to its strong text processing tools: search support, rapid single-use software development, CGI scripts support. Perl provides a strong XML support and possibilities of transcript to XML. The course offers an introduction to Perl and its most common programming techniques, including applications in corpus linguistics. The course is intended for PhD students of linguistics and no preliminary knowledge of programming is required (but it can provide an advantage).
