Course objectives
Basic overview of the demographic development of European civilisation with a specific regard to the population of the Czech Lands: population processes in the past (with emphasis on the period until the demographic changeover), changes in distribution and social structure of the population. Monitoring of the individual as well as collective experience with the basic life situations such as birth, marriage, death, issues of family and household in a traditional society - European form of family, so called traditional model of family, all in the period social contexts. Familiarisation with the professional terminology and with the methods of historical demography. Work with particular sources and their practical application when exploring the history of population.

  • 1. Témata a metody historické demografie.
    2. Přehled populačního vývoje I (paleodemografie, předstatistické období).
    3. Přehled populačního vývoje II (protostatistické období).
    4. Přehled populačního vývoje III (demografický přechod, nový demografický režim).
    5. Sňatek, manželství a nemanželské vztahy.
    6. Formy evropské rodiny a domácnosti (European Marriage System).
    7. Plodnost a porodnost, problém ilegitimity.
    8. Kontracepce, infanticida - přechod ke kontrole porodnosti.
    9. Epidemické krize - nemocnost - projevy nemocí.
    10. Úmrtnost, fenomén dětské úmrtnosti, zvyšování naděje na dožití.
    11. Migrace a geografická mobilita obyvatelstva.
    12. Dějiny populačního myšlení a populačních teorií.
