- Course objectives
- Influence of strong gravity in vicinity of black holes on test particles and test fields is presented and some relevant astrophysical applications are discussed.
- Syllabus
- Motion of test particles and fields. Schwarzschild and Kerr geometry, analysis of Carter equations of motion, Metod of effective potentials; influence of electric charge, Reissner-Nordstrom and Kerr-Newman geometry, effective ergosphere, black hole in an external magnetic field; the role of the cosmological constant, cosmological horizon, Schwarzschild-de Sitter and Kerr-de Sitter geometry.
Physical fields in vicinity of black holes. Test scalar, electromagnetic, gravitational and spinor fields. Newman-Penrose formalism, separability of field equations, superradiant modes.
Optical effects in the field of black holes. Black holes as gravitational lenses, deflection of light, estimates of the leasing effect, transverse motion of the lense or the source, light curves of hot spots on the surfaře of accretion disis, spektrum of hot spot or many hot spot radiation, profiled spectral lines.
Gravitational and magnetic effects. Lense-Thirring precession, binary systems and geodesic precession, role of tidal effects in black hole rotation, magnetic effects, Blanford-Znajek process of energy extraction.
