- Course objectives
- Seminar develops in detail the issues concerned by the lectures. Students are encouraged to work with literature on the topic of collecting, part of the seminar series is to get acquainted with written and iconographic sources on the phenomenon of collecting and their use. Selected examples demonstrate different types of collecting and collectors including various types of collectors strategies of institutional type from the oldest examples (Louvre, British Museum) to a private collector (V. Kramář, J. Waldes), whose role was important for creating public collections. Students are to manage seminar papers about the phenomenon of collecting as suitable for conducting research to patronage, creating taste and evaluation of art in the polarity of individual relationship to art versus art as a subject of interest of institutional collecting.
