- Course objectives
- The course aims at outlining the historical development of the German language. Special attention is paid the proces of the creation of unified standard language and the contributing factors. Subsequently, the individual text types and their macro and microstructures are characterized. The theory is then applied using text samples from a historical corpus. 1. The periods of the German language development 2. The origin of the standard German language 3. A so-called "office German": 4. The contribution of Czach grammar to the research in this field 5. The origin of the technical German language 6. Theoretical terms: "Fachprosa", "Fachsprache", "Sachliteratur" 7.
