Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce ecomuseology as an integrating discipline describing the role of the ecomuseum in the protection and preservation of natural and cultural heritage with the involvement of the local community in this process. The seminar provides on the example of specific problems of design and evaluation of the ecomuseum basic knowledge and skills needed to understand the issues of ecomuseology.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to characterize and analyze: 1. Origin and development of the idea of ​​the ecomuseum, definition and characteristics of the ecomuseum. 2. The role of the ecomuseum in the sustainable development of cultural and natural heritage. 3. The role of the local community in the protection, interpretation and management of heritage for the sustainable development of society. 4. Protection of nature, cultural and industrial traditions in the area. 5. Functions of the ecomuseum for the preservation of nature and cultural traditions. 6. Environmental and community model of the ecomuseum. 7. Ecomuseum as a tool for preserving traditional ecological knowledge and activities. 8. Ecomuseum, ecotourism and tourism. 9. Tourism as a source of funding and a potential factor in the damage to cultural and natural heritage. 10. Strategies for the use and protection of ecosystem services and the role of the eco-museum in this process. 11. The role of the ecomuseum in the Man and the Biosphere program and in the European Convention on Landscape Protection. 12. Ecomuseums in the world. 13. Ecomuseums in the Czech Republic.
