- The course is dedicated to the structure of the Italian simple sentence. A difference is made between the terms sentence and utterance. Syntactic phenomena are observed both on the formal and semantic and pragmatic levels. A special attention is given to the function of articles, the structure of the predicate and the usage of passive voice in Italian. Different types of utterances are presented with the aim to distinguish their pragmatic functions. The seminar is focused on the analysis of texts.
