- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce the students to contemporary British and Irish poetry in such a way as to enable them to read, interpret and appreciate a wide range of its stylistic and formal features as well as to emotionally, psychologically and intellectually respond to its topical, albeit changing themes. The course will focus on key motives of poems by Adrian Mitchell, Gillian Clarke or Don Paterson. The course will familiarize the students with contemporary poetry in a way that will enable them to take a well-informed part in debates sparked by the readings of the poems.

- Orientation in contemporary British poetry. The ability to critically interpret the poems.
