Course objectives
The course will emphasise specific aspects of film style and narrative form through analysis of films screened, or watched as homework, each week. To compliment this film soundtracks will also be analysed critically. The course will take the form of critical writing analysis in class concerning, for example, one film, or one section of a film, or one piece of music. During the class a short (approx. 200/300) words critical appraisal shall be written. Midway through the semester a more detailed essay will be expected of approx. 1000 words concerning one film or one soundtrack. A second essay will be expected at the end of the semester.
