- Course objectives
- The course introduces event management as a modern and effective tool for regional development in relation to exceptional, unique experiences. It presents possibilities of applying event management in the field of cultural tourism and possibilities of linking it with presentation and education of cultural heritage. It focuses on typology of events, preparation, design and implementation of conferences, congresses, trade fairs, openings, specific trips and excursions, sports, cultural and musical events, galas and VIP events. It provides information on possible sources of funding for events and presents important tools for successful marketing communication, which are at the centre of attention of event management. Practical skills are used at the so-called training events, which deal with key areas of event management techniques (facility management, infrastructure, event safety) and pay attention to experience and event marketing (target group analysis, strategy and product development, sponsorship and advertising, success control, support programmes). Students will experience working as a team and in collaboration with a concrete agency organising the event, which will give them a higher level of adaptability for future work. They can apply their experience from cultural and historical institutions (museums, galleries) in the context of the presentation and use of cultural heritage in event practice.

- 1. The importance of event management; event management as part of marketing strategy.
- 2. Typology of events with emphasis on events/programmes focusing on cultural history and cultural heritage, or organising in cultural and historical venues; specifics of cultural events.
- 3. - 4. Basic steps of organizing and creating an event in a cultural-historical context (planning, decision-making, organizing, operational management, controlling).

- 7. Marketing and promotion of events.
- 8. Implementation of cultural events.
- 9. Benefits of events for regions and the state.
- 10. Event controlling.
- 11. Cooperation with an agency.
- 12. Using the potential of tourism for the creation of cultural and historical events.
- 13. Examples of good practice in the field of events focusing on cultural history and heritage in homeland and abroad.
