Course objectives

In this course, students build upon the knowledge acquired in the compulsory subjects  Dějiny a reálie Itálie 1 a 2 . The seminar aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Italy, including significant social aspects of the country. The course content is partially flexible and may be supplemented with topics proposed by 
the students themselves, based on their specific professional interests.

 

Learning outcomes

By completing the course  Současné italské reálie 1 , students should gain both new knowledge about Italy and a more comprehensive overview of the country.

1. The Italian Constitution
2. The system of government
3. The Italian economy from the post-war period to the present: economic structure
4. The Italian economy from the post-war period to the present: "Made in Italy" and traditional products
5. The Southern Question: North and South
6. Mass media: newspapers, magazines, journalistic language
7. Mass media: radio, TV, the Internet, etc.
8. Folk traditions

Teaching methods

reading, class discussion, homework; presentation of a topic of interest

Assessment methods

Course credit contingent upon home preparation, active participation in seminars, and a prepared presentation on an agreed-upon topic.
