- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Multimedia Techniques (programme FU, MMTNM)
- Course objectives
- The course introduces students to the evolution from classical optomechanical planetariums to modern digital spherical projection as one type of immersive media. The main focus, however, is on teaching techniques suitable for the production of programs for spherical projection, i.e., programs in the universal "fulldome" format.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to: - analyze spherical programs according to their preparation method - write a script for a fulldome show - create a simple fulldome show in the Digistar software environment
- Syllabus
- 1. Historical introduction, illustrative astronomical aids 2. Digital planetariums and fulldome projection as a new medium 3. Individual components of programmes or image and sound 4. The road to a universal FD projection format, different systems (e.g. E&S, Sky-Skan, etc.) 5. Shows with astronomical themes 6. Science shows 7. Cultural and experimental shows 8. Script preparation I 9. Script preparation II 10. Implementation of the show in Digistar 6 (hereafter D6) 11. Producing the show in the D6 environment 12. Producing the show in the D6 environment
