Course objectives
The content of the subject are data transmission systems with an emphasis on metallic lines and wireless transmissions. The main topics are characteristics, parameters and physical principles of metallic and wireless lines.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student will be familiar with the characteristics, parameters and physical nature of data transmission systems with an emphasis on metallic lines and wireless transmissions.
Syllabus
  • 1. Transmission media: basic information (types and properties of transmission lines, frequency bands)

  • 2. Metallic lines: primary and secondary parameters of conduction, types, characteristics, construction, symmetrical and asymmetric lines, installation and adaptation of line, metallic pairs, crosses, selection of optimal lines for the application

  • 3. Radio and wireless transmission routes: wireless networks history, wireless networks overview, hardware and network topology, phase and quadrature amplitude modulations, radiole and satellite connections, advantages and disadvantages of wireless networks (atmospheric influences) >
  • 4. Standards of wireless networks: Wi-Fi, BT, 2G.3G, LTE, spectra of networks, frequency bands, allowed output powers

  • 5. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) transmission systems: electromagnetic interference, resistance, basic standards
