Course objectives
Students will acquire basic knowledge of territorially oriented information systems not only in the Czech Republic (municipal information systems and state information systems). They will become familiar with the thematic structure of these systems, data and cartographic documents, as well as the standards used in the state information system. Attention is also paid to general familiarization with the main commercial products that are used for the creation of territorially oriented information systems. Seminars on the subject are aimed at developing knowledge about the use of information services in public administration.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- describe and explain the basic concepts and principles of digital cartography
- describe basic data sources, registers of the Czech Republic
- describe GIS systems by administrative units
- describe the basis of geographic information, graphic files for map processing
- the role of the CZSO and its services

Assessment methods
Active participation in exercises and solving all homeworks. Students demonstrate knowledge and overview of GIS in the scope of lectures (examination in the subject).
